
With work spanning from the mountains to the coast of North Carolina and across the Southeast, Kathryn Greeley, owner of Kathryn Greeley Designs, is proud to be celebrating 30 years in the design industry. She shares her love of collections, antiques and entertaining in both her book, The Collected Tabletop, and on her blog, The Collected Room.

Writer Victoria Bouloubasis is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Her primary medium for storytelling is through freelance food journalism and maintaining the blog This Feeds Me. Victoria’s topical interests range from the cultural symbolism associated with food, the fight for fair food access and farmworker rights. She is a chief contributor to the Independent Weekly and this summer she’ll be work with the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association. Victoria helped draft the founding mission of Vittles, contributed to Café Sense and is the Outreach Coordinator for The Farmer Veteran Project.

Since I’m now in the heat of wedding and event season (I own WNC Weddings & Events), I thought it would be fitting to share one of my favorite event venues — Mountains and Meadows at Turkey Pen. Located on 250 acres of private property that borders Pisgah National Forest on the outskirts of Brevard, the setting is breathtaking.

Most of the time, I’m a wine girl and a sometimes beer girl. But in late spring, I start getting a taste for something cold and fruity. Something a little out of the ordinary; just perfect for sipping with friends in my own back yard.

If you’re new to Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, you may not know that there is a slice of nature nestled in many local neighborhoods: Greenways. According to the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation website, greenways are defined as, “vegetated natural buffers that improve water quality, reduce the impacts of flooding, and provide wildlife habitat.” Currently, there are 37 miles of developed and 150 miles of undeveloped greenways with a variety of surfaces throughout the county.
